The 12^th Grand Jagran of Maa Jagadamba was organised by her devotees under the aegis of the Mamatamayi Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust in Mumbai on Tuesday, March 3. The event was attended by thousands of devotees of Guru Maa from all parts of the globe. Mamatamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa is a Mumbai-based Hindu spiritual teacher/guru with followers across the world.The event was free and open to all without exception.

Being held on the day of Mamatamai Shri Radhe Guru Maa's spiritual birth (when she received Lord Shiva’s grace), the jagran is believed to attract peace, progress and abundance in the lives of all beings.

The celebrations began a month ago and included various public service initiatives and religious programs including  the feeding of sadhus and gifting of clothes (vastra-daan) to them. Pujas, havans, chants and a paath of the holy Guru Granth Sahibji were also held with hundreds of devotees attending.

Star musical performances

Member of Parliament and Bhojpuri Superstar Shri Manoj Tiwari, Shri Suresh Wadkar, Shrimati Sadhana Sargam, Shri Kumar Vishu, Shrimati Sapna Awasthi, Shri Musa Paik, Shrimati Neeta Parikh, Shri Ram Shankar, Shrimati Poornima Shreshtha, Shrimati Pamela Jain and several other performers sang bhajans, bhets and geets through the night to glorify Mother Jagadamba.

While Shri Manoj Tiwari regaled devotees with 'Kala tika' while Shri Ram Shankar sang his evergreen "Radhe Maa Daya karo" and “Meri Naiyya ki Patwar tum ho Radhe Maa”.

A number of Bollywood numbers were sung at the event. Shri Suresh Wadkar explained that the songs were to be interpreted in a spiritual light.  Shrimati Sapna Awasthi sang the soulful 'Tera mujhse hai pehle ka naata koi' and 'Itni shakti mujhe dena data'. The audience was visibly moved with the rendition of Sadhana Sargam's 'O palan haare.'

New seva work to be undertaken 

"In the last one month, our volunteers have been able to serve God's children - the poor, the saints and sadhus and the underprivileged in orphanages, old age homes and institutions for people with special needs. The initiatives culminated in the jagran, which provided us with the opportunity to spread the message of bhakti through bhajans, kirtan and simran in the Kali Yuga. The jagran began at 8 pm and continued till5 am the next day. The arrangements were flawless. Thousands of devotees had darshan, attended kirtan and were fed at the langar," said Sanjeev Gupta, managing trustee of the Mamtmai Shri Radhe Guru Maa Charitable Trust.

Mr. Gupta says the trust plans to expand its list of initiatives to include new areas like helping students with writing skills, spoken English and training of women of limited means in skills like papad making, sewing, computer skills and small scale home businesses. "We are starting pilot projects soon and depending on the response we will extend these programs to all parts of the country through the year. I thank all sevadars who have worked together during this big event with tremendous dedication, bhakti-bhaav and love and a readiness to work hard. We count on their support in our efforts to serve Maa Bhagwati and Guru Maa, who is our ultimate friend, philosopher and guide," Mr. Gupta added.
